Spotify, a beloved digital streaming music service, has been struggling for a long time to launch their service in the USA, having faced all manner of challenges from the music industry. Now, however, it looks like Spotify will finally be coming to America between July 5 and July 15.
The report comes to us from Noisecast, who suggests that they received an email from a major music industry executive that named the above launch dates, and apparently all of the major labels have now sighed on.
The service won’t be exactly the same as the European version, however, as reports indicate that the free ad-based subscription model had to be axed before the various music labels would agree to the service.
The launch of Spotify in the US should be exciting news, but I can’t help but wonder: With iCloud and iTunes Match in the pipes for a fall release, is it too little too late for Spotify? Only time will tell.
