Review: Beyzacases Zero Series For iPhone 4 & iPad 2

A while back, I posted an announcement for Beyzacase’s new line of cases for the iPhone 4 and iPad 2, called the Zero Series. We’ve just gotten in our review samples, and I was pretty impressed with how solid the products are. Read on for my full thoughts.

Overview

It can be difficult to find a leather case for your gadgets that is “just right”. Many cases end up being too thick, others use lower-quality leather or are improperly lined. Beyzacase’s offerings come pretty close to having the perfect balance. The cases are ultra-thin, and made of a premium leather that’s both quite soft and extremely durable. The cases look, feel, and even smell great!

Initial Thoughts

The Zero Series gets its name due to its incredible thinness. The cases barely add any weight or thickness at all to your devices, are made of very tough, durable leather that’s lined enough to protect your device, but not so much as to add a significant degree of thickness.

My first thought when I initially opened the package was that the case was too thin to be appropriately tough and protective – fortunately, I was proven wrong very quickly, as the Zero Series cases perform extremely well, despite their super-slim profile.

Beyzacases claims that these are the thinnest leather cases ever put on the market – and they might be right! Personally, I have never encountered a thinner leather case, especially one of such tough construction and high-quality leather composition.

iPad 2 Case

The iPad 2 case compliments the iPad 2 very well – it adds almost no additional weight and bulk, hugs your iPad 2 very securely (without affecting the buttons), and is fairly easy to insert the iPad 2 in and remove it.

The case has a built-in magnet sewn discretely into the leather that keeps your iPad asleep while in the case. The magnet is embedded very well, and does not detract from the design of the case – in fact it’s difficult to even tell it’s there when it’s not performing its “smart sleep” function.

iPhone 4 Case

The iPhone 4 case is equally good – the iPhone is easy to insert and remove, and the tightness of the case really makes your iPhone feel extremely secure. It features a slot in the bottom that you can push through to help remove the iPhone 4 more easily.

This is a “pouch-type” case, so you can’t access the screen or buttons while your iPhone 4 is in the case, but serves to provide an excellent protective barrier for when you have your iPhone in your pocket or bag.

Minor Gripes

The only issues I encountered with the Zero Series cases was that the cases, while snug, sometimes feel a little overly tight against the device, and particularly in the case of the iPad 2, make it difficult to insert and remove the device quickly.

Verdict

The Beyzacases Zero Series is a very solid line of cases – they are well designed, strong, and durable, and represent the pinnacle of leather accessories for your iPhone or iPad. They’re as attractive as they are functional, and they meet their purpose with both purpose and grace.

Conclusion & Rating

Rating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed spending a bit of time with the Zero Series cases for the iPhone 4 and the iPad 2, and my experience was mostly positive.
