Following the departure of Apple Retail guru Ron Johnson, Apple Senior iOS Product Manager John Herbold has decided to leave Apple to become a product VP at HealthTeacher. Herbold was previously a senior product manager for MobileMe.
John Herbold, pictured above, is said to have played a key role in developing launching iCloud, and when he led the MobileMe team, he was reportedly involved in the development of web and iOS apps for MobileMe.
The company he is moving to, HealthTeacher, provides teachers with educational materials promoting physical and psychological health for K-12 students. HealthTeacher CEO Scott McQuigg said that “John has a proven background of engaging audiences across the devices we use to learn, play, socialize and be entertained…applying his experience developing world-class interactive products, John will lead our efforts to broaden digital engagement with kids, their families and their teachers, all focused on measurably improving youth health.”
While Apple has lost several notable employees in the past months, I have no doubt that they will be able to find and train suitable replacements in short order, and I am personally unconcerned about the effects of these departures.
