iPad Has Over 50 Times The Browser Share Of Nearest Competitor

According to some browser usage statistics from Net Applications, the iPads now accounts for almost a full percent of the global browser market, which doesn’t seem like much until you compare it to its nearest tablet competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, with only 0.018 percent.

This is a pretty substantial lead that the iPad has managed to take. The stats stretch from April 2010 to May 2011. This data is not only interesting – it’s a powerful testament to just how much traction tablets in general – and the iPad in particular – are gaining. Check out the below graph (click to expand):

From Net Applications:

Looking at this data, it’s clear that even in April 2010, the iPad had more of a usage share than the Galaxy Tab does today. In fact, at that time, when the iPad was barely one month old, it had almost as much usage share as the Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom and BlackBerry PlayBook combined.

Meanwhile, the iPad’s growth in browser usage continues to grow in an exponential manner, climbing around 10% every month.
