iOS 5’s Weather App Is Location Aware, Finds Your Forecast

iOS 5 just keeps sounding better and better to me. The latest interesting bit is the weather app, which, in addition to being able to “lock and hold” locations as it does on iOS 4.x, will now display a forecast for wherever you’re currently at.

Our source has found that the new iOS 5 weather app delivers the weather forecast for your current location as a default, so you always have a current, accurate weather report with you, no matter where on earth you are, each time you open up the app.

You can also “hold” weather locations in your iPhone, and can differentiate your location-based results by the presence of a compass icon on the page of your location-based weather results. Simply tapping the screen in the weather app automatically brings you the hourly weather report for your current location.

The new weather app also includes the ability to grant you hourly weather forecasts automatically, and everything is configurable in the Weather app settings.
