Reports from China claim that Friday’s explosion at Foxconn’s polishing workshop in Chengdu will not affect the production of the iPad 2. The report stated that the polishing building was not part of the assembly lines used in the manufacturing of iPads.
The report continued to say that all tablets would ship on time but also said that production in Foxconn’s main factory in Shenzhen would be stepped up as a contingency.
The iPad 2 has an estimated shipping time of between 1 and 2 weeks on Apple’s site.
The explosion at Chengdu has claimed its third victim as of Sunday evening. Apple is to launch its own investigation into the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
