Hong Kong-based retailer Alibaba has a “Crystal Case for iPhone 5G” listed for sale showing the next-generation iPhone camera flash shifted to the other side with an edge-to-edge screen.
This case seems to lend a bit of credence to the rumor of a radical new iPhone 5 design we saw a few weeks ago. However, I’m unconvinced by the edge-to-edge screen design shown at right. The case photo shows 5 rows of apps that are seemingly shrunken down with very poor resolution, which leads me to believe this isn’t a very credible rumor. The only possible design change I envision is the camera’s flash getting bumped over to the other side to eliminate the “blue haze” issue users have reported.
My money is on an evolutionary rather than revolutionary upgrade from Apple bringing us an iPhone 4S with minor cosmetic changes, an A5 processor, better camera (with flash moved over), HSPA+ support and a Qualcomm world phone chip.
Apple is believed to be releasing the iPhone 4S on Sprint and T-Mobile USA in September and on China Mobile in the next 12 months.
