Spotify Moving Into Movie Streaming

Europe’s favorite music streaming service, Spotify, intend to move into the movie business. That’s according to a Techcrunch post posted a short time ago.

Not only will Spotify continue to offer music streaming, they have also recently negotiated a number of deals with major movie studios to offer movies to their users.

Spotify is aiming to one-up rivals such as Netflix, Amazon, and iTunes by providing its users with access to movies only a few weeks after their theatre release.

One of the things holding back Spotify from dominating the streaming music market is their inability to tie down the US record labels to distribute their music through the service, however, the movie deal will be a global deal meaning there will be no restrictions on content.

The Techcrunch article predicts that Spotify will launch this service in the Fall.

Update: Spotify CEO Daniel Ek tweeted the below tweet that seemingly denies the Techcrunch article. Watch this space..
