According to a report from AndroidCentral, the above screenshot is from AT&T’s corporate database, and indicates the prices that customers pay for upgrading their phones ahead of schedule. The prices for both the iPhone and other smartphones have increased significantly.
The price has been raised by $50 for iPhone users, but it’s been raised a staggering $150 for users of other smartphones, such as Windows Mobile or Android. If AT&T wasn’t raking people through the coals before, they sure the hell are now. You can be sure that manufacturers aren’t increasing the price that AT&T has to pay for the phones – AT&T just doesn’t feel like they’re raping your wallet sufficiently.
If this is the story today, then God help all GSM customers if their T-Mobile acquisition goes through… Can you say SOS?
