Apple Bought iCloud.com For $4.5 Million

According to GigaOm, Apple just dropped a cool $4.5 million for iCloud.com to be used for their forthcoming digital music locker service.

My source, who is familiar with the company, says that Xcerion has sold the domain to Apple for about $4.5 million. Xcerion hasn’t responded to my queries as yet. At the time of writing, the Whois database showed Xcerion as the owner of iCloud.

The domain currently redirects to CloudMe, so the owners have already rebranded their company.

Will we see a big announcement for the iTunes cloud service at WWDC in June?

James first bit into Apple when his mom and dad bought an Apple IIe in 1986. He switched to Wintel in the mid 90s when Apple was in a tailspin and back again to an iBook in 2005 when things were looking brighter. Hopefully there is no turning back to the dark side now.
