It took less than 24 hours for Apple’s WWDC event to sell out.
With only approximately 5,000 places available, the $1,599 priced tickets were snapped up by eager developers looking to get an early glimpse at the future of iOS and OS X.
Now ticket holders are taking full advantage and exploiting the demand vs supply imbalance by placing their tickets for auction on eBay. The prices range from $2,075 to a whopping $4,499.
I’m particularly fond of this sellers rationale for selling his ticket for $4,999:
I bought a ticket, but it turns out I have a conflict. This auction is for one (1) un-used/un-activated ticket to the 2011 Worldwide Developer Conference. THEY SOLD OUT IN 1 DAY ON APPLE’S WEBSITE…EVEN IF YOU DON’T NEED IT, RESELL IT!
He seems to believe that his price of $4,499 is a modest one and that people are prepared to pay even more if you decide to sell it on for a third time after purchasing it. I’m sure he’s kicking himself over that “conflict” of his. A conflict that he hopes to give him a return of $2,900 on his original purchase.
The WWDC event takes place between the 6th and 10th of June and will largely focus on the future of iOS and OS X.
