Other World Computing (OWC) has just unveiled it’s new 16GB RAM upgrades for the new 2011 MacBook Pros. This is notable, as it’s the first time such a product has ever been released for the MacBook line of Laptops. They have 12GB and 16GB configurations available that come at a cost of $879.99 and $1599.99 respectively. This is a pretty serious upgrade, but not unexpected, as the new MacBook Pros do rival the current Mac Pro models that are in production, many of which utilize 16GB or more of RAM.

Other World Computing announced today through its in-house MaxRAM testing lab the immediate availability of high performance OWC PC3-10600 DDR3 1333MHz 8GB memory modules that provide 12GB and 16GB memory configurations for the new 2011 MacBook Pro models. Now, with these OWC Upgrades, new MacBook Pro model owners can add up to twice the factory maximum installed memory.
