A photographer friend of mine, Rich has a Glif, a clever iPhone tripod mount that also functions as a stand. It’s a very cool accessory for the iPhone 4, one part of the promo video shows it being used in conjunction with a GorrillaPod which is what Rich was using it with and getting some very cool effects.

The only thing stopping me from running out and buying a Glif was the fact that I haven’t upgraded my iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 4. I was really impressed by it’s simplicity, and Rich sent me an amazing blog post the entire process of bringing the Glif from vague idea to market.
The creators had no background in engineering or industrial design, no prior knowledge about bringing a product like this to market, but using on demand 3D printing to iterate their design and using Kickstarter to fund the initial production run they went from idea to market in 5 months. Inspirational stuff.
