Firefox 4 Out-Downloads IE9 By 2 to 1

Yesterday saw the official release of Firefox 4.

At the time of writing, there has been more than 6 million downloads in a little over 24 hours. That’s more than twice the downloads IE9 has since its release more than a week ago on the 14th of March.

Wow!

Web Analytics company Statcounter today released the above graphic that illustrates the market share that Firefox 4 has being able to acquire in 24 hours. Firefox 4 currently holds a 1.95% market share while Internet Explorer 9 has a mere 0.87%.

Even perennial web browser Opera’s latest release, Opera 11, has more of a market share than IE9’s.

Check out Mozilla’s Glow page that shows you a live ticker of Firefox 4 downloads using a map of the World.

You can also use this niffty tool on StatCounter’s site that shows live web browser stats on a per region basis. How is Firefox 4 fairing compared to IE9 in your country?
