Apple Send Email, Tries To Create Long iPad 2 Lines

Apple is apparently trying to coax people to stand in lines to purchase the iPad 2 rather than order it online. Apple today sent out a mass email to customers (we got several for some reason) encouraging them to stand in line. The email reads as follows:

Be the first to get the next iPad. This Friday, March 11 at 5:00 p.m.

The Apple Retail Store is the best place to experience iPad. Our Specialists will show you around the features, help you choose the perfect model, and set everything up just the way you like. So you’ll be up and running before you leave the store.

The email then gives a link to find your nearest Apple Retail Store.

Perhaps the exclusion of a pre-ordering option is Apple’s way of avoiding the type of media attention they got for having very short lines at the Verizon iPhone 4 launch (mainly because people were buying online).

Will you be standing in line for an iPad 2, or ordering online? Sound off in the comments!
