Some good news for Britons – iPlayer is coming to the iPad tomorrow. The app will allow UK residents to catch-up on programs that they missed that week and provide a rich media experience on the popular tablet device.
You can still access the iPlayer via the Safari browser on your iPad but the app will offer improved functionality and social networking features and will allow you to catch up on Top Gear, Eastenders, The One Show and a whole host of other great TV and Radio shows.
The iPlayer is only available to residents within the UK via an IP based restriction. An international version of the iPlayer is rumored to be launching later this year that will allow non-UK based users access to the iPlayer on a monthly subscription basis. The international version of the iPlayer will more than likely follow the path of the BBC website and will also be ad-support for international users.
The iPad iPlayer app will be free to download and ad-free for UK users because it falls under the license fee.
