Amazon is bringing their online shopping experience to an HDTV near you, as today they debut their new “Amazon App: Browse, Search, and Shop,” app for the fourth-generation Apple TV. The app allows shoppers to search for, view, and purchase items from the massive online retailer via their Apple TV.
While anyone can download the app, (it’s free), and search for or browse items, an Amazon Prime membership is required to make a purchase. (Prime will run you $99 per year, and offers benefits such as free 2-day shipping, video and music streaming, and more. Click here for more info, and to sign-up for a trial membership.)
Users can search for items using dictation and browse through product details, reviews, images, and videos. Items can be purchase directly from the Apple TV, using your remote, or items can be added to a list so you can review them later on your iOS device or computer.
Unfortunately, the new app doesn’t bring one highly-desired feature to the Apple TV, streaming of the Amazon Prime television and movie library. While a number of rumors have floated the bowl about the online retailer bringing their streams to the Apple TV, users must for now continue to view the library via AirPlay from their iOS devices to the Apple TV.
Amazon’s app can be downloaded free, to any fourth-generation Apple TV. [CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO]
