A new photo, claiming to display a spec sheet for a 256GB capacity iPhone 7 Plus, has been making the rounds today. The photo, originally posted on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, has not been verified to be Apple-based in origin, so get out your salt shakers.
If the spec sheet in the photo is a forgery, it appears to be a good one as it includes all of the usual legalese you would expect to see on such a document. While it is quite easy to fake something like this, previous leaks such as this have leaked true details, such as the iPhone 5s, and its new “Touch ID” fingerprint sensor in 2013.
The spec sheet shows the much rumored and anticipated 256GB amount of storage for the device, along with mention of “Earpods with Lightning Connector,” and “Lightning to Headphone Jack Adapter.” This jibes with previous rumors that Apple will be dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack from this year’s new iPhone models, in favor of Lightning or Bluetooth connections for headphones.
In exactly one week, we’ll know for sure what Apple has ready in the release chute, as they have announced a September 7th media event, where they are expected to unveil the “iPhone 7,” and iPhone 7 Plus” handsets. Also expected to debut at the event is the Apple Watch 2. While Apple is expected to unveil new Macs this fall, they likely won’t make an appearance at next week’s shindig. MacTrast will be liveblogging the event, as well as providing a closer look at the new products unveiled during the event, so be here on Wednesday!
