Apple is planning to open its first Singapore retail location in late 2016, at the Knightsbridge luxury shopping mall. Pure Fitness, the current tenant in what will become the stores location will vacate the space on December 15th.
The Strait Times:
The gym, together with other tenants in the building, is handing back the space to the landlord to make way for Singapore’s first Apple store in 2016.
“We understand that this is short notice but we have only recently been informed of the handover date on this site,” one of the emails said.
While Singapore was one of the first launch regions for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and is a quite wealthy market, Apple has until now held off opening a physical retail location there.
As noted by AppleInsider, real estate comes at a premium in the area, and Apple is quite selective about the locations where it opens its stores, in some cases waiting years until a prime space opens up.
