Apple unveiled their new Apple Music, an all-in-one music app and streaming service today at WWDC 2015. Apple Music combines a streaming music service, a worldwide radio station from Apple that broadcasts 24 hours a day, and connect features for artists to share content with their fans. Apple Music will be available starting on June 30 in over 100 countries.
Apple Music
Apple Music makes the entire Apple Music library across all your favorite devices, allowing users to stream any song, album or playlist available in the library. Apple has hired music experts from around the world to curate playlists based on your preferences. A new “For You” section offers a mix of albums, new releases, and playlists.
Siri is also more music aware. Users can now ask Siri to, “Play me the best songs from 1994,” “Play the best FKA twigs song,” or “What was the number one song in February 2011?”
Apple Music Radio
Apple will offer Beats 1, a live radio station that will be broadcast in over 100 countries. The 24-hour a day station will be led by DJs Zane Lowe in Los Angeles, Ebro Darden in New York and Julie Adenuga in London. The stations will stream to listeners around the globe offering everyone the same programming at the same time. Programs will offer music, exclusive interviews, guest hosts, and more in the world of music.
Apple Music Radio will also offer stations created by some of the world’s finest DJs, offering genres ranging from indie rock to classical and folk to funk. Paid members can skip as many songs as they’d like.
Apple Music Connect
On Apple Music Connect, artists can share lyrics, backstage photos, videos or even release their latest song to fans directly from their iPhone. Fans can comment on, or like anything an artist has posted, and also share it via Messages, Facebook, Twitter and email. Artists can respond directly to comments.
