A new report today claims Apple will be unveiling their wearable “iWatch” device alongside the next-generation iPhone at an Apple event to be held on September 9th.
The new device will, predictably, make good use of Apple’s HealthKit health and fitness platform. It will also — predictably — make good use of HomeKit, the company’s new framework for controlling connected devices — though it’s not clear how broadly or in what way.
Re/Code had previously reported that the iWatch would debut at an October event, but that will likely be an iPad event, as it has been for the past two years.
As always, all reports are considered rumors until we see evidence backing them up, so treat this report as such. It shouldn’t be long now before we get an idea of what will be introduced on September 9th, as invitations should go out shortly. Then we can all spend hours analyzing the invites and what they mean.
