As we reported last week, late June saw the 44th annual Pride Parade being held in San Francisco. Apple participated in the parade, encouraging its employees to attend and walk in the parade in support of the LGBT community. Apple has now posted a video of the event on YouTube.
The video shows how the company and its employees prepared for their participation in the parade, with a pre-event celebration, special t-shirts and bicycles, and rainbow colored flags. Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” serves as the soundtrack. The video closes with a shot of the throngs of people in the streets of San Francisco celebrating. The final title reads “inclusion inspires innovation.”
The caption on the YouTube page reads:
“On June 29, thousands of Apple employees and their families marched in the San Francisco Pride Parade. They came from around the world — from cities as far as Munich, Paris, and Hong Kong — to celebrate Apple’s unwavering commitment to equality and diversity. Because we believe that inclusion inspires innovation”
Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Apple’s Environment Director Lisa Jackson joined thousands of other Apple employees to march in the parade. During the event, Cook tweeted congratulations to the 5,000 Apple employees and their families who had gathered for the event, saying:
Congrats to 5000 Apple employees/families who attended today’s Pride parade.Inclusion inspires innovation.#applepride pic.twitter.com/4DncX8F6fO
