The new untethered iOS 6 ‘evasi0n’ jailbreak has certainly been extremely popular, having been used to jailbreak over 7 million devices in it’s first week of release – but with Apple’s iOS 6.1.1 update on the horizon, many jailbreakers may wonder whether the update could block their jailbreak.
There’s good news and bad news. As 9to5Mac notes, the good news is that the first iOS 6.1.1 jailbreak does NOT seem to affect the jailbreak (although the ‘evasi0n’ tool doesn’t currently support jailbreaking the beta). Apple could still break the exploit in future builds before releasing the beta, however, so anyone wanting to keep their jailbreak is advised to avoid iOS 6.1.1 builds until it gets the green light from the evad3rs team.
For the latest info and updates, make sure to follow the Evad3rs team on Twitter, and keep an eye out on the website.
Update: Evad3rs team member @planetbeing confirmed in a tweet today that iOS 6.1.1 does not, in fact, affect the jailbreak, and that the evasi0n jailbreaking tool will be updated to support the newly updated firmware.
Apple released 6.1.1 for the 4S only today. The JB still works fine. We will release an updated evasi0n that recognizes it as supported.
