All of those readers who have been holding their breath waiting for T-Mobile to offer the iPhone on their network can now exhale… Now, take in another big breath, and wait for next year.
TmoNews reports that it has received a pair of photos from T-Mobile USA’s internal news system announcing that the carrier will be rolling out new training programs focused on “selling against the iPhone”. The new training modules are being deployed on September 21, the rumored launch day for the next-generation iPhone in the United States.
Considering most companies wouldn’t be training employees to sell against a product they’ll be offering, it looks like it’s a safe bet that T-Mobile will be on the outside looking in once again as the new iPhones roll-out next month.
T-Mobile is the only one of the four largest U.S. carriers to not offer the iPhone. T-Mobile uses 3G spectrum bands not supported by any iPhone model to date. However, over a million users have brought their unlocked iPhones over to T-Mobile even though they were only able to use them at slow EDGE compatible speeds. However, T-Mobile has recently been reassigning frequencies to allow usage of the iPhone on their 3G network.
The report from TmoNews also says that T-Mobile will also be rolling out new “Monthly4G” SIM kits that will be compatible with the iPhone 4 and 4S later this month, so even though they’ll be selling against the new iPhone, they’ll happily allow you to being over your unlocked 4 or 4S and use them on their brightly colored network.
