While nobody but Apple knows for certain when the next iPhone will come out, the time appears ripe. Numerous credible sources all claim that Apple will be holding an event on September 12 to announce the device, which is expected to be released later that month.
Carriers have a tradition of discounting current iPhones ahead of new iPhone launches, and this year, Sprint is the first to begin slashing prices. The carrier is cutting $50 off the price of an iPhone 4S (reducing the price to $149), and even waiving the activation fee if you order online.
The sale was first reported by iDownloadBlog, although AllThingsD and other sites picked up on the news shortly afterward. The sale should be a great opportunity for many folk – the iPhone 4S is still a great phone, and a chance to pick one up for $150 is a difficult opportunity to turn down!
Apple’s next iPhone is rumored to feature a taller 4-inch screen, thinner design, and a two-tone metal rear casing, as well as a smaller dock connector, relocated FaceTime camera, new smaller nano-SIM, and LTE support, and is expected to be announced on September 12.
