While a number of highly credible sources have already all but confirmed an iPhone-related Apple media event for September 12, a new report claims that AT&T is preparing for Apple to launch the next-gen iPhone in late October.
BGR reports:
According to a trusted AT&T (T) source, the carrier is currently planning to launch Apple’s (AAPL) next-generationiPhone during the third or fourth week of September, with an all-hands-on-deck policy in place for employees that will extend through to the middle of October.
The carrier has also reportedly rescheduled a previous training event set for the first week of october to place for a “huge announcement.” The rumor lines up with a previous report from iMore claiming that Apple is preparing to launch their next iPhone on September 21.
MacRumors notes that BGR has a mixed track record in reporting such vacation blackouts, having claimed last year that AT&T was planning on a September iPhone launch. That launch (for the iPhone 4S) actually took place in October. Even so, the report does fall in line with what has already been reported so far.
