Ready for some very exciting iPhone and iPad news? According to a new report from Rene Ritchie at iMore, Apple may be planning an event to announce the next iPhone, as well as the long-rumored 7.85-inch iPad mini, on September 12, with the next-gen iPhone launching just 9 days later.
iMore has heard that Apple is planning to debut the new iPhone at a special event on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, with the release date to follow 9 days later on Friday, September 21. This information comes from sources who have proven accurate in the past.
The iPad mini will be announced at the same September 12 event, as will the new iPod nano. We haven’t heard a release date for the iPad mini yet, but it could be the same as the iPhone 5. It seems likely the new iPod touch will make an appearance on September 12 as well, though we haven’t heard any specific information about that yet either.
According to iMore, the report comes from a typically reliable source – and indeed, iMore has an excellent track record when it comes to making these sorts of claims. Apple’s next iPhone is expected to feature a taller 4-inch screen, thinner design, and a two-tone metal rear casing, as well as a smaller dock connector, relocated FaceTime camera, and LTE support.
Meanwhile, rumors regarding the iPad mini have become much more frequent recently, with claims arising from larger and more significant sources over time. The device will likely sell for much less than Apple’s 10-inch iPad, and is expected to address $199 7-inch tablets such as the Galaxy Nexus and Kindle Fire.
