Kickstarter is very known for hosting unique and interesting projects, but one that has really caught my eye is the gTar – a fully digital guitar powered entirely by your iPhone (via 9to5Mac)! It even has strings and a full fretboard to repliicate the feel of an actual guitar.
The product is intended mainly as a teaching tool to help beginners’ learn guitar basics, featuring LEDs that light up to show you how to play certain chords, or even guide you through entire songs.
The gTar is currently at $65,000 of its $100,000 goal, And anyone with an interest in the device can snag one of their very own in exchange for a $350 pledge (these will eventually retail for $450). While this does look like a very interesting way to learn to play guitar, the gTar’s starting price does seem a bit steep for a learning tool.
For more pictures and thoughts on the gTar, check out Engadget’s hands-on with the device, or visit the project’s Kickstarter page for more information or to make a pledge.
