Following previous reports suggesting that Sharp would be supplying iPad 3 display components, the Wall Street Journal offers confirmation from their own sources.
According to the report, Sharp is already supplying displays for the iPhone 4S, and Apple will be adding them as a display provider for the next-gen iPad as well.
WSJ’s source also claims that Apple is investing in Sharp’s manufacturing facilities in Japan to make sure it can get enough parts for its upcoming iOS devices.
Previous reports claim that Apple is investing in Sharp, and that the two companies have found a solution for making a thinner Retina display for the iPad 3. Apple’s next-gen iPad is expected to arrive sometime early next year.
