US carrier Sprint has confirmed that they will offer unlimited 3G data plans to their iPhone 4 and 4S customers when they start taking pre-orders later this week, reports AllThingsD. Sprint will be the only US carrier actively offering an unlimited data plan to iPhone users.
Sprint will have two plans available: A $69 monthly plan with unlimited data and 450 voice minutes, and a $99 plan with unlimited calling and unlimited 3G data. Sprint is counting on their unlimited plans and cheaper pricing to help them stand out from AT&T and Verizon in the eyes of customers.
While AT&T and Verizon both initially offered unlimited data for iPhone customers, both carriers have now discontinued unlimited data packages in favor of more expensive tiered data packages.
Sprint remains confident about the ability to handle an influx of iPhone customers, with spokeswoman Michelle Leff Mermelstein offering the following statement: “We have every confidence in the ability of our 3G network to handle the influx of devices we expect to get. It certainly hasn’t been an issue to date.”
The carrier also confirmed that they’ll be offering the same contract pricing as both AT&T and Verizon, offering a 16GB iPhone 4S for $199, 32GB for $299, and 64GB for $399.
