Accessory manufacturer Case-Mate posted some promotional images earlier this month showing a new line of iPhone 5 cases with mocked-up iPhone 5 images inside of them. The images caused a significant bit of excitement, and were quickly pulled from Case-Mate’s website.
A new report from BGR, however, suggests that a number of Case-Mate iPhone 5 cases have just appeared in AT&T’s retail inventory system, rekindling hope that Apple might announce a revamped and redesigned iPhone 5 at their upcoming October 4th media event.
The inventory entries point to three separate case designs for the iPhone 5 in a variety of different colors. The listed cases include Case-Mate’s Barely There, Pop!, and Touch Case lines. It’s unclear whether these are the same cases that Case-Mate briefly displayed on their website.
The existence of these cases within AT&T’s inventory doesn’t necessarily confirm that a redesigned iPhone 5 will be released, however, even if the image is authentic .
There may be reason to suspect that the image is not accurate, considering that the word “case” is misspelled on one line, and the iPhone 4 OtterBox listings aren’t consistent in their capitalization of the case color.
