Many have been expecting new MacBook Airs to arrive this week, with most rumors pointing to a release on July 14. Further, according to a recent report from 9to5Mac, the model numbers have surfaced for not only new MacBook Airs, but new Mac Pros as well!
That’s right – the new MacBook Airs may not be the only new game in town this week, as new Mac Pros may also arrive, which should be exciting news for Mac professionals! The below model numbers correspond to the new MacBook Airs. This data indicates that there will be four new models of the MacBook Air, including two 11 inch models and two 13 inch models. Both models will come in standard as well as upgraded configurations, and there will also reportedly be Built-to-order options available.
The main upgrades for this model are expected to be the inclusion of new Intel Sandy Bridge processors, and the inclusion of Apple and Intel’s new Thunderbolt I/O technology, and no visible design or exterior changes are expected.
Further, new Mac Pros are expected this week, which will also likely feature Thunderbolt I/O (perhaps dual ports, like the 2011 iMac), and new Sandy Bridge processors, including a possible 16-core processor configuration.
The new Mac Pros may possibly see a new rack-mountable design, which may service as the Mac Pro Server model, which also has a leaked model number. The Mac Pro model numbers will be as follows:
The new models of both Mac lines will ship with OS X Lion, which is expected to arrive through the Mac App Store this thursday, the 14th of July, so it’s possible that the Mac Pro will see a refresh on that date as well. Previous speculation has already pegged new MacBook Airs to arrive on July 14th.
